Peacock Mantis Shrimp

This colourful crustacean is surprisingly capable of great strength! It can punch its prey at a speed 50 times faster than a bullet with power that can break glass. The shrimp often feeds on crustaceans larger than itself, such as crabs.

They live in warm shallow waters where they dig burrows, only leaving for hunting and mating. Outside of these times, these shrimp are very territorial and often solitary.
