Cuttlefish, a Cephalopod closely related to octopus, have been found using ink as part of a courtship ritual.
Ink disperses in the water to form a dark background which makes the male cuttlefish appear brighter and more colourful for stronger appeal to females. This information was first published by Arata Nakayama at the University of Tokyo in February of this year.
